Today marks the last official day I have with my delegates from all over the world. :(

I remember this journey to be a bitter-sweet one. Right at the start of the whole preparation process, I wouldn't deny that I have, on many many occasions, declared that I regret my decision of signing up because of the tiring and boring dry-runs and trainings. I was so apprehensive that I literally dreaded every single time I saw an email from the AMSC committee or receive a text message/WhatsApp message, guessing what new task I would be allocated for again. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one who felt this way. And really, GM+ sounds fantastic but isn't it just a lot of admin work?

But the past week has been an amazing experience, something that I would truly regret if I hadn't put in enough effort and social energy to make it happen. The first two days were quite torturous when I started off, because being a GM+ is crazy. When the conference started I was honestly already prepared to just to all the shit work and not get interaction time with any of the delegates, hence the angst. The first two days were quite admin-heavy, where we had to report way earlier just to wait and wait and wait for things to happen.

Thankfully, I squeezed every bit of time out for meeting the delegates, following my group as much as I could. Since I wasn't the kind to direct an entire group, Nick and Xiang were really covering my duties with regards to that. So I had a lot of interaction with almost every individual while I was tagging along at the back for almost all the field trips, and forged really close friendships in this short span of four days.

Staying in UTown CAPT was also quite an experience -- it gave me the solitude that I always enjoyed but never dared to display. I felt so independent, so free, so alive.

I wouldn't say this was tiring; I'm sure Nick and Xiang had it ten times worse than I did. Super thankful for Nick, whom I partnered for more events. Without him as a loudspeaker and a leader, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy myself this much and still get my job done. And for reminding me time and again that I actually contribute in many circumstances + life lessons on when to assume responsibility. I guess we click well (that's priceless) like what Hani kept telling me tonight. Gonna miss you too haha I would tell you more if your phone is with you right now :( On rare occasions I got to speak to Xiang one-on-one, and I truly love her company and the energy and vibes that bring everyone so much joy and laughter. And for sharing some deep and inspirational life experiences that I thought would never have come from her. I was wrong about you being not inclusive. Sooo gonna miss the M4s, and I regret not having the chance to individually tell them how much they mean to me :'(

And the delegates... such a nice, caring, social, cooperative, happy, energetic bunch that made hosting them so enjoyable. As the days went by I found myself excited and eager to start each day off, even if it means rattling away at their doors at 0545 in the morning. Adis, Akhil, Bryan, Caroline, Eegii, Eldaa, Hani, Hale, Hui Ying, Joseph, Khaokwan, Laraine, Lulu, Matthew, Pan-Am, Rebecca, Ree, Rosie, Sencho, Srijan, Tony, Youjin, thank you all so much!!!! The first few days I remembered you all by your unit numbers, and towards the end I remember you all as unique individuals with big hearts and lots of love. The week was filled with laughter ever so genuine, hugs that never felt more real and sincere, gestures that never seemed kinder... This is the first time I'm feeling so strongly about meeting and becoming friends with people from other parts of the world, and I'd be really sad if all the friendships end just here. Hope everyone remembers each other and continue to join more conferences in the next few years to come! I'll remember all the small talks we had and little jokes we cracked, how we linked arms and felt so at home with each other.

As the day comes to an end, the sweetness of the experience lingers. Even if the future is uncertain, I'm glad that I took this first step towards establishing international bonds and enjoying the company of many more people who mean so much to me. Somehow throughout this experience, I couldn't be bothered with taking photos, and so didn't manage to take selfies with everyone. Soaking all the love up and there's no time to waste man. :) Parting is always the toughest and we don't always get to say all the things we wanted to say (well I guess some are better left unheard). You guys will be held dearly and so close to my heart :')
