Just got back from the Juntendo trip which lasted two whole weeks (10 May - 23 May). In the first week, 11 of us attended lessons at Juntendo University Hospital and mingled around with our fellow Japanese counterparts whom we've hosted in March. There was so much to see and learn from the whole Japanese culture and not just the education itself. The next week was all free-and-easy at Hokkaido, where we went around places like Hakodate, Niseko and Sapporo. In totality, it was an extremely memorable and as I would describe, a trip of many firsts - first time hiking under such treacherous conditions, first time driving long hours in another country, first time experiencing horrid turbulences on a plane which felt like a real-life edition of a vertical drop ride in the theme park, first time going overseas with complete "strangers", first time performing dissection in anatomy hall... etc., and the list goes on. It was truly a fantastic experience, and I never regretted signing up for this a single bit.

One thing that bothered me throughout the whole trip was your companionship. I don't remember exactly how and when it all started, but we spent so much time together as a pair that everyone else could see and sense it. And when we did, I felt it didn't matter because I was genuinely happy with your company. It was a great feeling, albeit slightly unnerving at times where I could feel people talking behind our backs. As of now I don't think there's anything going on because you sent no clear signals, but I'm really afraid of what could happen next. People talk about it and I get shy. Maybe you meant nothing at all or just wanted to make a good friend that you can keep beyond the exchange. The others are pretty damn right; you're smart, capable, sporty, sensible, responsible, sociable, have a great sense of direction, and take really great care of me. I don't know if/don't think I deserve this right now, and it's been a really really long time since I felt this genuine care and concern from someone. With you appearing in my life for a consecutive 11 days, literally from the moment I open my eyes in the morning to the moment I close my eyes before bed, I can't help but think more about it. How you'd talk to me so much just to keep me awake (or maybe you just fear for your life), how encouraging you are when I fall/drive like a woman, how you'd let me hear your music and give me a fair share of what I prefer, how we kept sharing our food, how you'd ask me if I'd like a glass of milk every morning in Niseko, how you'd willingly do the dishes with me even though it was such a hassle, how you came over to my room to find me at night just to spend the last few moments of the night time with me, how you showed me videos that were just as ridiculous as you are, how you told me I actually slept on your shoulder during our inbound flight after soooooo long and laughing over it, how you always silently crept up beside me to walk with me and talk to me (even though I pretend not to notice and sometimes try to stride further away just to observe if you'd follow), how you taught me to skip stones and tell me I did okay even though I didn't, how you tell me about your family and your life, how you remember to text me even though we've gone on different paths, how you laugh at my silly self when I'm tired and grumpy, how you only told me the guy tailgating me pointed the middle finger after he sped off, how you told me that age is just a number, how you insisted to give me a list of movies to watch after we return, how you wanted to play MapleStory with me, how we aim spiteful comments at each other just for fun and really laugh over them, how you remember every single thing I tell you (that I might even have forgotten that I told you e.g. about the book that I meant to read on the trip but didn't even bring). I can't believe anyone can pay this much attention to my needs and well-being. I feel incredibly blessed to have you with me on this trip.

Honestly don't know how things will change from here, but I kinda like how bashful I am about all these now. Either way I just really hope we can remain very good friends, despite whatever happens. :)
